HEART PROBLEMS

#1
"The one thing to always bear in mind is the link between heart and kidneys. Much of the workload of the heart is pumping the blood through the kidneys so if there is something wrong with the kidneys, it can increase the workload of the heart. "

#2
"Guinea pigs, like other companion animals, can develop heart problems. With proper diagnosis and treatment, your pet can live a longer and more active life."

Post  Admin Sun Mar 15, 2009 10:21 am

"The guinea pigs most likely to suffer from this are those housed in hutches at the bottom of the garden during a hot spell in summer that have no shade. Such hutches quickly turn into ovens with the temperatures soaring."

"There are rules to follow for both piggy, and human to keep their relationship a happy one. Keep in mind that there may be some guinea pigs, that do not like to be handled at all."

FOR MORE INFORMATION -- http://www.oginet.com/pgurney/handling.htm

#2
"Guinea pigs are gentle animals with delicate bones. Since some guinea pigs have a tendency to jump (especially when you are returning them to their cage), it is important to learn how to hold and carry them safely. "

-----H----- Empty HAIR TRIMMING

Post  Admin Thu Mar 19, 2009 6:24 am

"Trim the under hair of the rear end of any long-haired guinea pigs. In most longer haired guinea pigs the hair growth on the rear end is long so the undercoat does have to be trimmed back, if it isn’t then it will become soiled and knotted."

-----H----- Empty HOUSING

Post  Admin Thu Mar 19, 2009 6:38 am

#1
"This is the number one aid to health in guinea pigs.

Indoor housing helps you stay aware for any developing problems, or illnesses. when they are in your home, you can notice any early signs of illness. The number one rule is, the earlier you notice the illness, the better the guinea pig will recover from it's problems."

FOR MORE INFORMATION -- http://web.onetel.net.uk/~petergurney/h.html#_HOUSING

Most of our guinea pigs spend the majority of their lives in a cage. Ideally it is spacious and stimulating, but it is a cage."

FOR MORE INFORMATION --- http://www.guinealynx.info/my-pigs.html

#4
"Housing For Health and Happiness
Select a smooth bottomed cage (no wire bottom, ramps or shelves on which they can catch their feet). A small covered house or box inside the cage will provide a sense of protection and a place to sleep."
